Nelly Furtado was born in 1980 and started singing at the early age of four. From humble beginnings as a child of Portuguese immigrants, Nelly Furtado has risen to the top of her game with those great looks, sex appeal and a talent that is second to none in singing, songwriting, producing and experimentation with unique qualities and sounds.
In her early career, she performed at the 1997 Honey Jam, an "all-female urban" talent show where she got noticed by Gerald Eaton (of The Philosopher’s Kings). Eaton was initially interested in Nelly’s song writing skills but soon, he and fellow King, Brian West, helped her produce a demo. They continued to work together and ended up releasing Nelly’s first single called “Party’s Just Begun (Again)” in 1999. It was also Eaton and West who co-produced her debut album, “Whoa, Nelly!”
Nelly Furtado has three albums to her credit. “Whoa, Nelly!” was released in 2000. The album was an international success, with three international singles: "I'm like a Bird", "Turn off the Light", and "On the Radio (Remember the Days)". It received four Grammy Award nominations in 2002, and her debut single, I’m Like a Bird” won for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
